How did Hatshepsut got into power?

When her husband, half brother to her and king died, she pushed her stepson to the backround and proclaimed herself king, although the stepson did have the title of joint ruler.

Why is known as the "bearded queen"?

To keep up with the image of a masculine ruler she was often shown with a beard. She also wore a fake beard.

Name two or more of her achievements, events or things accredited to her.

She is credited to discovering Punt, although she didn’t really discover it. Her reign was very peaceful and prosperous. She out up statues, rebuilt temples, and built new shrines.

How did Hatshepsut got into power?
When her husband died, she put her stepson out of the picture and took the title as pharaoh.

Why is known as the "bearded queen"?
She is known as the bearded queen because as pharaoh you need to keep a masculine appearance. They made her look masculine by making a beard on her when she was shown.

Name two or more of her achievements, events or things accredited to her.
Her achievements were building statues, temples and shrines.

How did Hatshepsut got into power? She got the Myrrh trees from Punt and the transported them in to Egypt and they thought of it as a corner of paradise for the god Amon.

Why is known as the "bearded queen"? At first she started to wear masculine head gear then she wore the ceremonial beard.

Name two or more of her achievements, events or things accredited to her. They say she discovered Punt, and she was called serpent of the royal god.

Ben:
I don't agree with your answer to #1. You failed to mention that she pushed her stepson into the background and stole the king's position from him.

Bill:
I like how you put some of Hatshepsut's background into your answer to #1.

How did Hatshepsut get into power?

Her husband and half brother died and she forced herself into power of Egypt.
So she was selfish and basically said that she was in power and that was that.
She made Thutmose II a no-name and proclaimed herself as king.

Why is known as the "bearded queen"?

When she forced herself into the power of being king she figured that if she was a king but she was a girl she had to make herself manlier. So she figured that men have beards and that is why she is the bearded queen. She is depicted with a ceremonial beard.

Name two or more of her achievements, events or things accredited to her.

The temple of Propaganda and, or worship. She created and nurtured her image as the queen who sponsored epic adventures. She was accredited with the discovery of Punt but that was not true because it had been going on at least 1,000 years before Hatshepsut’s arrival.

Anónimo dijo...

Ben,
Your answer didn't fully answer question #1. She pushed her stepson out of the way and made herself king.

Alejandro,
I thought you needed to explain more throughly on question #3. Like what were the names of the statues, shrines, and temples.

When hatshepsut’s husband thutmose II died, she married his son thutmose III, but took the title of ‘king’ for herself.

Why is known as the "bearded queen"?
She is known as the bearded queen because she wore traditional masculine pharaoah’s headgear such as artificial beards.

Name two or more of her achievements, events or things accredited to her.
She was accredited for discovering Punt , but really it had been going on for at least 1,000 years before Hatshepsut actually fount it. As far as we know, she has no conquests or had a substantial army because they were not illustrated. Queen Hatsheput raised obelisks at karnak which weighed more than 320 tons.

How did Hatshepsut get into power?
When her step-brother/husband/pharaoh Thutmose II died, she had ruling helped rule with her husband’s son Thutmose the III. That didn’t last long though. She quickly pushed him away and made herself “King”.

Why is known as the "bearded queen"?
She is know as the bearded Queen because she in a way was “King”. So she took on some “Kingly” characteristics. So people gave her the beard, because she acted very much like a king.

Name two or more of her achievements, events or things accredited to her.
They give her credit for discovering Punt , which they think is nowadays is Somalia. The reason that is considered so great is because it has ebony, ivory, gold, and myrrh trees. Though really she didn’t discover it, because Egyptian expeditions had been made to that land many times before. Another achievement of hers was 2 giant obelisks, made from 1 block of red granite and pointed with gold.

1. She was the wife of her half-brother, Thutmose II and when he died his son was supposed to take over but Hatshepsut "pushed him into the background" and proclaimed herself "king"

2. She wanted to look like a ruler with great power so some pictures of her showed a beard.

3. She erected statues, restored temples and built new shrines. Also some people think she discovered "Punt" but now they know that's not true.

To Ben: Your number one doesn't really explain the question correctly, she got power because when her husband died she claimed herself "king."

To Haley: Your number three is very nice, its detailed and explains everything, including specific dates and weights.

Hatshepsut built Deir el Bahri, which was a huge architectural advancement in Egypt; she also erected two obelisks (giant blocks of granite) at the city Karnak.

1. How did Hatshepsut get into power?
Her husband was her half-brother, Thumose II, who was King at the time, and when he died she pushed aside her, well his son, Thumose III, and proclaimed herself "King" with all the power in her hands. Then she recieved the titles given to male pharaohs.

2. Why is she known as the "bearded queen"?

In several potraits she is pictured in a masculine way (clothes, armor, etc...) and in one potrait she is wearing a ceremonial beard. Basicall, a way to make a rare female "king" more masculine.

3.Name two or more of her achievements, events or things accredited to her.

She commissioned Deir el Bahri (Sphynix, Pyramids), 2 giant obelisks at Karnak(hewn from a single block of granite and pointed with gold),and she also erected statues, restored temples, and built new shrines.
*She is said to have "discovered" Punt, but it wasn't true.

Her husband/half brother died she pushed her son to the side and took his place as the king.

Why is known as the "bearded queen"?
Since she was the king, she was seen wearing male apparel and to keep the traditional look she wore a ceremonial fake beard.

Name two or more of her achievements, events or things accredited to her.
Hatshepsut was credited for the land of Punt but it is said to have been created years before she was even king. She was also responsible for the architectural wonder of Deir el Bahri, which was near Thebes. In Karnak, she would restore temples and build obelisks.

How did Hatshepsut got into power?

Why is known as the "bearded queen"?

She is known as the bearded queen because there was no woman who had ever ruled so she wore beards to have a man’s appearance.

Some of her achievements were that she erected statues, restored temples, and built new shrines; also they say that she discovered punt and she was popularity credit for that, but she didn’t really find it.
